05:33

In common usage, "detergent" refers to mixtures of chemical compounds including alkylbenzenesulfonates, which are similar to soap but are less affected by hard water. In most household contexts, the term detergent refers to laundry detergent, hand soap or other types of cleaning agents.

Today I will be sharing with you well detailed tutorial on production of detergent for making daily income.

The equipments required in the production of detergents is not quite different from other soap productions.

Cutting machine or board nor wire is not needed; the most needed equipment   is the grinding machine. Attentively, improvise method could be employed by using specially designed wood and grind your finish product.
1)    Vegetable oil                                            18m liters
2)    Caustic soda (NaOH)                                9 liters
3)    Sulphuric acid (H2SO4): This is the most important chemical in the formation of any type of detergent. It plays a significant role in the formation.
Its primary function is aiding the foaming effect of the product; in detergent the role is too unique for proper formation.
4)    soda ash (Na2CO3) optional
5)    Perocatalyst (H2O2): this is another important chemical in the detergent formation. It’s found in liquid form. Its primary function is to aid the product to act fast (a form of catalyst) it act as bleeding agent in the formation and also facilitates the transformation of the detergent into powder.
6)    Ammonia acid: exactly the same as those used in the mortuary for embalming dead bodies. It function is drying up of the product
7)    Industrial hydrogen peroxide: (H2O2) as in 5 above, it helps to pieces the product into very tiny particles.
Other materials
·        Stirrer
·        Big bowl
·        Hand gloves
·        Small bowl

METHOD OF PRODUCTION
It is the same as other soap production; the difference is the chemicals and addition. Soda solution and oil which is the base of soap production are poured into mixers and adequately stir. Other chemicals 3-6 are added while industrial hydrogen is the last to be added. Immediately this chemical is added in the required proportion the reaction commences immediately
Note: if you are not fast in turning the product on the already prepared place on the floor it would fill the bowel and pour off by itself. Allow the soap to dry then spread in the sun if need be or allow it in the room it will still dry well. Pack the detergents in a small nylon bags and it is ready for sale.

Caution
·        Avoid direct hand contact with any chemical while producing
·        Ensure the use of gloves and stirrer for thorough mixing.
·        Avoid spill over during production
·        Ensure accurate measurement

To ensure quality detergent note:
·        It must be foamy
·        It must be well mixed
·        It must be well drained
·        It must give lasting and refreshing odor.

Marketability
With the population of Nigeria today (140 million people) only one company cannot meet the demand of Nigerians. Detergent can be sold anywhere provided it is securely package.

Target Audience
It is needed in hospitals, public toilets, schools, homes , laundry companies and hotels. And with this you can see that marketing wise there is a great demand for disinfectant.
