Our focus here is on how to produce laundry soap on a small scale. There are various methods of production, but two are outstanding. The hot and cold method. The hot method involves boiling the chemicals in a mixture. The cold method, which is easier and does not involve boiling, is being exposed here.
Formulation:
This
refers to the quality of percentage of every chemical requirement in the
formulation of soap. It could be called formula. For a better understanding we
convert percentage to ratio 2 is to 1 which means if you are using 18litres of
oil for instances, the soda solution must be taking at 9litres pail
measurements.
Below
is the formula for production of a high quality one mould of bar soap.
Vegetable
oil (18litres)
- Caustic soda solution (9litres pail measurement)
- Sodium silicate (swam water cover measurement)
- Soda ash (1/4kg measurement)
- Color (1 table spoon measurement)
- Perfume (2 APC bottle measurements)
METHOD OF PREPARATION
Note:
arrange all required equipment in place before commencement of production.
Stage1:
clean your mixer or big plastic bowel; turn in 18litres of vegetable oil into
the mixer.
Stage2:
measure already dissolved caustic soda solution, which have fermented for the
past 3 to 5 days into production pail that has graduation reading. Take your
hydrometer gauge at 12.75 and let caustic soda solution be at exactly 9
centimeter level.
Stage3.
At this stage pour the soda solution into the mixer containing 18litres of
vegetable oil and stir the content of the mixer very well for efficient result.
Stage4.
Add sodium silicate the specified measurement and stir the solution as contain
in the mixer.
Stage5.
Add soda ash to the mixture in the bowel or mixer as specified and continue
stirring.
Stage6.
For effective result of the colorant, use small container of the vegetable oil,
pour in one table spoon measure colorant of your choice, that is green, yellow
or red and dissolve before turning into mixer. This is to prevent patches in
the finished product. Continue stirring until soap solution is well mixed.
Caution
- Avoid direct hand contact with any chemical while producing
- Ensure the use of gloves and stirrer for thorough mixing.
- Avoid spill over during production
- Ensure accurate measurement
