Ronaldo, Bale, Griezmann battle for UEFA Best Player award, Messi out

The final three shortlist for the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award are Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Antoine Griezmann.

Lionel Messi, who won the award last eyar, did not even place fourth in the long list of 10 candidates.
Ronaldo is favourite to pick the prize, after he led Real Madrid to their 11th Champions League win in the 2015/2016 season, before winning the European Championships with Portugal.

The winner will be announced on August 25, on the day of the draw for the Champions League group stage.
